I Tested PassFab iPhone Unlock and Here Are My Findings

I’ve always been pretty careful with the passwords on my iPhone and iPad. However, I finally locked myself out of the device last week.

Then I tried to bypass the MDM lock on different Apple models. It advertises that this feature won’t lead to data loss, but actually, it mainly depends on the specific iOS versions.

For recent iOS versions such as iOS 17, iOS 18, and other iOS versions with older firmware, the device might undergo a system restore. And this could trigger a factory reset and cause data loss. Thus, “without data loss” is not guaranteed across all iPhones.

Additionally, the tool cannot preserve corporate‑managed settings or data tied to the MDM profile. This indicates that the apps, restrictions, or configurations enforced by the organization would be lost.

Bypass Screen Time without Data Loss

Then I decided to see whether bypassing the Screen Time passcode would preserve data as it had marked on the official website.

I set a Screen Time passcode and followed the instructions to get rid of the Screen Time passcode. Fortunately, the data was still over there. It even worked for the latest iOS 26. Typically, the removal was non‑destructive in most cases.

However, I also tested on devices that were heavily supervised by MDM profiles. They would be unexpectedly forced into a factory reset during the unlocking process. And this was regarding iOS versions. In such scenarios, my device would be wiped, and the data would still be erased.

On the other hand, you cannot selectively preserve certain Screen Time settings or usage history. In other words, all limits and reports related to the Screen Time would be erased when the restriction profile is removed.

Remove iCloud Activation Lock without Jailbreak

Last but not least, I’d like to reveal one of its new features - remove iCloud Activation Lock. The biggest advantage of this feature is that I don’t need to jailbreak my device in advance.

I grabbed an old iPhone model that was running iOS 12 and launched the software. I selected the “Remove iCloud Activation Lock” option and followed the on-screen steps to put the device into recovery mode. After checking and accepting the license agreements, I followed the steps to remove the Activation Lock.

The device restarted as a brand new one, even if all the data and settings were gone.

However, as indicated on the official website, this feature roughly worked on the iPhone 5s through iPhone X and iOS 12–16.7, up to iOS 18 for some variants. Considering the limitations of Apple models and iOS versions, it doesn’t have the same high success rate as other features.

Furthermore, it’s not recognized by Apple’s Find My Network to remove Activation Lock in this way. Therefore, it might trigger the lock again when I update or re-activate the iOS system.
